FOUNDER

Paul Reynolds is the founder of Covalent Group. Paul began his career in finance working for Goldman Sachs. His primary responsibility was managing middle office teams in Europe and Asia. He moved to the buy-side in 2012 when he joined a spin out platform, Decura Asset Management, founded by ex-Goldman Sachs Partners. As a founding team member, Paul helped to setup the $1bn fund platform from first principles. Since then, Paul has been and continues to be COO for multiple hedge funds that manage strategies including; Multi-Strategy, Long/Short Equity, Market Neutral, Event-Driven, Credit, Global Macro and Quantitative. Paul read at The London School of Economics and University College London and achieved a First Class Honours and a Dean’s List Distinction in Mechanical Engineering and Business Finance.

ADVISORY BOARD

Igor founded Alphidence Capital Ltd in 2020 and holds the positions of CEO and CIO. Previously Igor was the CIO for ADG Capital Management LLP from 2013 to 2019. Prior to that he spent 9 years at IPM Informed Portfolio Management AB where he was a Partner and Head of Portfolio Management and Research. Before this, Igor co-founded St. Petersburg Capital, an asset management firm that specialised in the Russian securities market, and later Unibase Invest, a managed futures business based in Tel Aviv. Igor graduated from Leningrad Polytechnic Institute in 1986 where he obtained a Master’s degree in Computer Science (Diploma with Distinction).

Mathias Piardon is a Swiss-based investment professional with 25+ years of experience in the finance sector. He is the Founder and CIO of 1L Capital. Mathias started as equity derivatives trader in 1999 for Calyon on prop, market making, exotic products, dispersion, then Dresdner as head of equity derivatives trading Asia ex Japan. He was based in Zurich, London, Paris and Hong Kong, between 1997 and 2009. He resigned to co found a quant hedge fund, Noho Capital, based in Hong Kong and London. In Jan 2016, he joined a 1 bn USD fund of hedge funds in Zurich, Ayaltis AG, becoming deputy CIO and member of the Investment Committee. He resigned and left in Feb 2021 to create 1L Capital AG. He holds an MSc in Economics (France) and an MSc in Finance (UK).

ADVISORY BOARD

Douglas is a technical entrepreneur; ex-Google, with a PhD from Imperial. Douglas was the founder and CEO of spider.io (acquired by Google). He led Google's war on botnets. He also tried to make a dent in killer cancers. Specifically, he led a team that tried to extend the Oasis protocol in ways that would enable data scientists and AI practitioners to generate life-giving insights from raw healthcare data that they cannot see. That work led to the founding of Programmable Ventures.

ADVISORY BOARD

Simon Overell is an AI engineer with 20 years of experience across academia, start-ups and big-tech. He is a Co-founder and Portfolio Manager at Programmable Ventures a quantimental crypto investment firm that identifies 10x tokens fuelled specifically by 10x real-world impact. Previously, as CTO at human.ai, Simon researched how to use Web3 technologies to draw insights from omics data while protecting patients' private data. Simon spent 6 years working for Google across Ads, Maps and Cloud. Earlier in his career Simon developed patented NLP and Machine Learning technologies for spider.io (acquired by Google), True Knowledge (acquired by Amazon) and Yahoo! Simon holds a Master's in AI and PhD in Information Retrieval from Imperial College London.
